Lab Manager II

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Manager II to join our team located in Chantilly, VA! Job ResponsibilitiesOversees the operations and administration of several departments within a LEVEL II laboratory environment.Will oversee daily operations across multiple departments and the accessioning of 26-28,000 accessions each nightAlign department metric goals and priorities with corporate, divisional, and laboratory-wide goals and prioritiesAbility to relate professionally with people, analytical abilities, compose letters / memorandum, coordinate events, motivate others, organizational skills, research information, time management, train employees, written and verbal communications, supervisory skills.Manage the lab team of 3 supervisors and 60+ employees in a critical aspect of the laboratoryConduct disciplinary actions, lead the hiring of new employees, and serve as the main point of contact for all site operationsManagement of testing personnel following established standard operating procedures for specimen handling and processing analysis.Assist with work on the bench as needed and mentor employees and supervisorsManage the Human Resource functions within the labIdentifies problems that may adversely affect test performance, and takes authorized corrective actionsDetects when test performance is not within acceptable levels, and documents all corrective actionSpecific tasks for this job in this section will include the following : Oversees coordination of schedules, distribution of work and usage of laboratory resourcesDevelops and implements improvements to lab workflowCoordinates hiring and training effortsEnsure departmental policies and procedures are optimizedProvide leadership to management and other laboratory staffDevelop a culture of leading by example and team mentalityOther related duties as assigned RequirementsBachelor's Degree or higher required5-10 years of

Management experience and must meet CLIA requirementsMust be MT / MLT eligible - certification is not required, but is a plusMust have 5 plus years MT / MLT experienceMathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the professional level.Knowledge of clinical industry trends and technologyExcellent interpersonal skillsStrong communication skillsPhysical Demands : Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one’s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping. Additional job duty (as assigned) :

(Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the work place.

The knowledge of personal protection measures.

The avoidance of accidents.
