Seasonal Tax Preparer $20-60 / hr Searching for Seasonal Tax Preparer for 2025 with a Top 25 CPA firm in both Richmond and Alexandria, VA.

Start Feb 2025-April 2025 Position Summary :

  • The Seasonal Tax Preparer will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and small businesses during the busy tax season.
  • This role involves working directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax documents, and ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
  • Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
  • Interview clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances.
  • Verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic or procedure.
  • Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedures for the preparation of atypical returns.
  • Compute taxes owed or overpaid, using adding machines or personal computers, and complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong client relationships.
  • Assist clients with basic questions regarding tax forms and other tax-related issues.

    • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in accounting or taxation preferred. 3+ years of tax experience in tax preparation.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (preferably CCH).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
