Job SummaryAddison Smith is seeking an experienced Plumbing Superintendent to lead and coordinate all plumbing field operations on commercial and residential mechanical contracting projects. The Plumbing Superintendent ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to Addison Smith’s quality standards.This position provides hands-on supervision of field crews, manages subcontractors, enforces safety and code compliance, and serves as the primary link between project management and field operations.

- Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all plumbing field activities on assigned projects.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, building codes, and Addison Smith’s quality standards.
- Assign daily tasks to crews, schedule manpower, and monitor field productivity.
- Oversee installation of domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drain, gas piping, and related plumbing systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to guide installation work.
- Monitor project schedules and coordinate with project managers to prevent or resolve delays.
- Verify tools, materials, and equipment are available to meet production needs.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections; enforce OSHA and company safety standards.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate plumbing foremen, journeymen, and apprentices.
- Coordinate with other trades to ensure efficient workflow and conflict-free installations.
- Attend project meetings and provide accurate progress updates.
- Manage subcontractors and review work for quality and completeness.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, manpower reports, and material usage records.
- Support project closeout, including testing, final inspections, and punch list completion.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Deep understanding of applicable codes (IPC, UPC, NFPA, and local amendments).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in workforce planning, scheduling, and sequencing multiple crews.
- Solid understanding of cost control, productivity tracking, and project documentation.
- Commitment to safety excellence and familiarity with OSHA standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic construction management software.
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical / vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of plumbing field experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential mechanical projects required.
- Licensing & Certification Requirements
- Georgia : Valid Journeyman or Master Plumber License issued by the Georgia State Construction Industry Licensing Board (Class II – unrestricted preferred) OR
- Alabama : Valid Master Plumber License (or ability to obtain within 6 months) required to oversee plumbing work in Alabama.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work performed on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- May require travel between job sites in Georgia and Alabama.
