Overview
GFT is seeking experienced Substation Engineers (Electrical Engineers) to join our Power Group. You will work on energy infrastructure projects including power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy, using advanced technologies and collaborative problem-solving to enhance system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
What You'll Be Challenged To Do
Lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients. Manage or contribute to projects spanning 34.5 kV up to 500 kV. Build strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders in the Power & Utility industry. Prepare, review, and present technical calculations, reports, equipment specifications, and construction documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop substation layout drawings (plan / elevation, yard layouts, grounding, raceways, control building layouts, cable lists, material lists) for new and existing substations.
- Develop substation one-line and three-line diagrams, Aux AC / DC power systems, DC power systems, DC schematics, SCADA / Communications systems, relay panel layouts, equipment wiring, and cable schedules.
- Prepare calculations and reports for clients; prepare equipment specifications for substation equipment, components, and construction.
- Collaborate across teams to pursue power substation projects regionally and nationally to grow Gannett Fleming's presence in power delivery.
- Develop and nurture client relationships; work across multiple disciplines in other offices.
- Participate in preparation of proposals, bids, reports, and presentations.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Professional Engineer License or on the path to licensure.3+ years of progressive experience in design, engineering and project management within the power and utility industry.Interest in or experience in the consulting engineering profession.Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) for scope, schedule, and budget management.Design experience in high voltage substation and distribution projects.Experience delivering quality technical solutions for major power delivery projects.Commitment to driving strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices.Preferred
Advanced degree strongly preferred.Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or Inventor.Compensation
Salary range : $77,000 – $155,000; dependent on experience and geographic location.
