job_description.job_card.job_descriptionBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 7+ years of experience in electrical system design, power distribution, and quoting and order support for custom-engineered products Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan, or similar Ability to interpret customer specifications and site requirements to create accurate electrical solutions Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance customer customization with standardization Experience defining electrical specifications and component selection for power distribution offerings (switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, generators) Experience creating detailed technical product documentation to support manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer requests Ability to specify safe and effective testing practices for powered prototype testing Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams Attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy Curiosity and initiative to explore new technologies and continuously improve designs Understanding of electrical design best practices, including safety, manufacturability, and compliance with codes Ability to identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement in engineering workflows Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Experience improving engineering efficiency through automation, modularization, or process standardization ERP, PLM, and Engineering Vault experience for managing electrical design documentation and BOMs NFPA 70E Certification or experience with medium-voltage systems Experience with UL 1008, UL 508, UL 891, and UL 1558 Project management experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering on schedule Strong leadership and mentoring abilities across departments Experience with continuous improvement initiatives ( Kaizen, process audits, design standardization) Familiarity with design for reliability, testability, or manufacturability (DFM) Exposure to root cause analysis and corrective actions in electrical design or production Interest in emerging technologies in power distribution, energy storage, or smart grids Ability to act as a technical multiplier by sharing reusable tools, documentation, or mentoring Experience creating frameworks, templates, or automations to reduce repetitive work Seniority level : Mid-Senior level Employment type : Full-time Job function : Engineering and Information Technology Industry : Manufacturing

Job Title : Senior Electrical Engineer
Location : Burnsville and / or Faribault, MN

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who elevates the performance of the entire team through mentorship, process improvement, and scalable engineering solutions across Trystar's diverse product portfolio. This role will translate customer requirements into feasible, manufacturable designs while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and standardization.

We also operate facilities in Troy, MI; Houston, TX; Merrimack, NH; Burnsville, MN; Murfreesboro, TN; Waukesha, WI; and Montreal, Canada. Responsibilities
- Design and provide electrical engineering expertise for custom power distribution equipment following UL 1008, UL 508, UL 891, and UL 1558 standards.
- Support and lead the custom quoting and order process, ensuring technical feasibility and compliance with listings, code, and customer specifications.
- Provide electrical engineering input across Trystar products to ensure custom designs are manufacturable and aligned with best practices.
- Refine and document quoting processes to improve efficiency and reduce engineering cycle time for custom orders.
- Collaborate with Sales, Applications, Engineering, and Manufacturing to bridge customer requirements with practical solutions.
- Identify common customizations and streamline configurations to improve quoting speed and accuracy.
- Mentor engineers and sales team members to improve internal understanding of complex power distribution solutions.
- Continuously improve processes to reduce rework and improve order accuracy.
