Overview
This role will lead and execute the locomotive on-board cab electronics architecture strategy by defining the integration and optimization roadmap for electronics hardware and software. The objective is to simplify the architecture, improve the customer experience, and drive profitable growth, reporting to the Vice President of Product Management & Technology (for the Vital Organs Platform).
The role will work cross-functionally with the Digital Intelligence, Equipment, and Service businesses, locomotive platform leaders, vital organ product managers, as well as across functions including engineering, sales, supply chain, quality, etc. to deliver compelling product solutions and innovative technologies that improve reliability, sustainability, performance, total life-cycle cost and automation vitality.
Responsibilities
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for locomotive electronics portfolio including new products and solutions that deliver highly profitable orders and revenue growth
- Support market assessments to define and target opportunities for new products, features, and solutions related to train control operations
- Responsible for orders, growth, price, market share expansion, and customer ROI
- Gather market / customer requirements and advocate for customer needs
- Document the technical and operational requirements and collaborate with engineering to develop design concepts and cost / schedule estimates
- Develop and refine the value story for specific RR applications, obtain customer acceptance of the value proposition
- Understand competitive landscape and ensure appropriate actions are taken to develop competitive discriminators, protect and grow share, and develop pricing strategies
- Define and guide multi-generational product plans that define the evolution of system features
- Write proposals and quotations for both pilot projects and production requisitions
- Lead deal review presentations to Business Leadership
- Lead special projects to identify & execute action plans to improve commercialization processes
- Responsible for new product launch, and new program handoff to execution team
- Collaborate with the global sales teams to develop customer contacts and selling strategies
- Monitor processes, analyze data and recommend business strategies to optimize the cost of programs
- Ensure regulatory and legal compliance
- Leverage market expertise to guide leadership and cross functional teams
- Leverage domain expertise to build customer relationships and support account goals
- Leverage product management expertise to build a world class product organization
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in EngineeringMinimum of 10 years of experience Product Management / General Management, Commercial, or Engineering5 years industry experience in railroad, Controls or electronics industry with the ability to grasp, explain, and use engineering concepts as applied to railroad operationsExperience in dealing effectively with customers at senior and technical levelsDemonstrated commercial intensity and a relentless drive to win and grow the product line and revenueStrong oral and written communication skillsExcellent presentation / communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills, and ability to influence across organizationsStrong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skillsMust be willing to travel 25%+ of the timeExperience leading multi-year technology investment programsExperience leading customer / industry engagementsFamiliarity with the industrial technology and railroad industryPrior Executive level Commercial / Product Management experienceWhat will your typical day look like?

The salary range for this role is between $161,300.00-$229,800.00. The actual salary offered may be influenced by factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
