Unit Notes

Department : Respiratory Therapist

• 50 mile radius for all travelers
• # treatments per day : Average census is 60-110. It's hard to put a

number to treatments per day as this changes from shift to shift

and acuity. Not all patients receive treatments and some 2-3 per

day.

ICU, NICU, and other basic floors. traumas, codes. We are part of the

Rapid Response Team, Code Blue Team, and Trauma Team - travelers

will be expected to respond to these.

NICU experience would be nice. Needs to be able to prioritize to

meet the ever-changing needs of the shift. Expected to know and

understand assessments with the ability to treat. Good assessment

skills. Wants them to be able to prioritize and not get flustered when

having to stop floor therapies to go to the ER. Prefer travel

experience- want them to be able to hit the ground running. At least

1 year of work experience- more would be nice.

lab primarily does them - normally do not have travelers do ABGs

On nights and weekends will EKGs and limited Cardiac monitors.

We have various protocols as well that Respiratory is part of that we

do assessments throughout the shift.

now but have tenured staff that are able to help / answer questions.

Manager is available by phone if needed.

schedule of several shifts in a row within reason. There must be

schedule is complete. If it works they will try to accommodate.

We have the V60+ Non-Invasive ventilation, Airvo 2, and various

other devices.

a week and a half of orientation where they get into the systems of

the facility, and we go through our orientation book to ensure what

they need more training on. Usually will be on days for the first week

and then move to nights for the rest of orientation being 1 of 3 RTs.
