Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems. Computer experience, including Microsoft Office, MicroStation, GeoPak, drafting software, and corridor modeling. Ability to respond to the public, local government agencies, Raleigh-based staff, and private engineering firms regarding the status and design of highway projects within the Division. Experience performing highway construction stakeouts. Working knowledge of field surveying procedures and proficiency with robotic instruments, data collection, and GPS. Ability to budget time and coordinate schedules with others. Fitness and agility to traverse steep and uneven terrain. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Division Design Construction (DDC) Engineering team.
In this role, you will :
- Conduct field surveys and mapping in our DDC office.
- Perform surveying, data collection, and mapping for division-managed projects.
- Conduct data management, integrating data into design files, property reconnaissance, and field ties, and computing property information for determining Right of Way impacts, etc.
- Perform route location surveys, design horizontal and vertical alignments, construction surveys, and development and analysis of 3D surface models.
