Overview
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The GMC Architecture Community has an opening for an Architect II for architectural projects in Birmingham, AL. The Architect II is responsible for the technical execution and delivery of exceptional projects.
Responsibilities
- Member of multi-office architecture practice sharing, contributing, and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects that include local government / civic, academic and healthcare.
- Broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, and proven ability to apply them.
- Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
- Understanding of the entire project process – development / scoping, design, and construction.
- Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
- Prepares complete project documents including the Project Manual / Specifications.
- Proficient in Revit Architecture, and complementary design tools.
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the architectural work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
- Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of architectural assignment.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making, time management and delegation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited architectural programMinimum of 5+ years of relevant experienceRegistered Architect or completed NCARB ProgramProficient in RevitMust be able to listen and communicate effectivelyMust be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employeesStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility to balance multiple projects and meet deadlinesAbility to adapt to changing business needsAbility to use good judgment and make timely decisionsTravel Requirements
