Job Description

7am - 3 : 30pm / Full Time / 40 Hours

Salary range - $19.36-$32.26

We're seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for Emory Decatur Hospital , responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work and ensuring the safety for all patients.

This individual will :

  • Assemble surgical instrument trays and pans and deliver sterilized items to the operating room.
  • Assemble special procedure trays for such complex surgeries as open heart, transplant, major orthopedic surgeries, neurosurgical, laparoscopic, and spine surgeries.
  • Use computer to scan PIC tickets on instrument trays and case cart protocol. Properly operate cleaning and sterilization equipment such as washers, sterilizers, sonic cleaners and cart washers.
  • Restock prep areas with supplies and take inventory of sterile instrument pans and trays.
  • May retrieve contaminated equipment, supplies, trays and instruments from patient care areas for cleaning and sterilization.
  • May collect needles and sharps containers from Operating Room for proper disposal. Monitor all sterilization equipment by testing and recording indicators.
  • Assist in training staff in the identification of surgical instruments and individual pans. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Three years of experience in sterile processing.
  • Registered as a Central Service Technician.
  • Experience with computer software. Must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate assignments.
  • The ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
