Hartzell is seeking a detail-oriented Tube Bender who is responsible for bending, forming, and fabricating metal tubing used in aerospace applications according to precise engineering specifications and industry standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, adherence to strict quality standards, and compliance with aerospace industry regulations. The operator will work with a variety of metals, including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel, ensuring precision bends that meet engineering and welding specifications.

Key Deliverables of the Position

• Set up and operate manual, semi-automatic, or CNC tube bending machines (e.g., Crippa, UTE, Pines, Techno (Bend Pro 2)
• Read and interpret aerospace engineering blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tooling, dies, and mandrels for various tube sizes and materials (e.g., stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, aluminum).
• Measure, cut, and bend tubing to required angles and dimensions using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, protractors, height gauges).
• Perform hand fitting and adjustments as necessary to ensure tube alignment and fitment.
• Work with other departments (e.g., Quality, Engineering) to troubleshoot and resolve nonconforming products.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP).
• Perform routine maintenance on tube bending equipment and tooling.

First Year Success Factors

1) Familiarization with all AWI Products and materials.

2) Develop proficiency in operating tube bending machines used for aerospace-grade metals.

3) Demonstrated aptitude for process development / improvement.

4) Minimize material waste while maintaining precision.
