Bilingual Front Desk Medical Receptionist
The Bilingual Front Desk Medical Receptionist at Townsen Memorial Surgery CenterMed Center plays a vital role in creating a professional, efficient, and compassionate experience for every patient and visitor. Serving as the first point of contact, this individual ensures seamless patient flow, accurate documentation, and effective communication between patients, providers, and clinical departments.
This role requires fluency in English and Spanish, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Warmly greet and assist patients, visitors, and vendors in both English and Spanish with professionalism and courtesy.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out for all surgical and procedural appointments, verifying accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances, ensuring accurate posting and secure handling of all payments.
- Coordinates patient care seamlessly with the PreOp, PACU, and OR teams.
- Verify insurance benefits and confirm authorizations for procedures; collaborate with billing and insurance verification teams as needed.
- Maintain communication with patients regarding preparation instructions, arrival times, and required documentation.
- Ensure documentation is complete before the end of each day.
- Answer and route incoming calls promptly; relay messages to staff and providers efficiently.
- Assist with bilingual patient education materials and reinforce pre- and post-operative instructions when appropriate.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist in preparing daily schedules, sign-in sheets, and physician preference forms.
- Keep the front desk, waiting area, and patient intake zones clean, organized, and stocked with required forms and supplies.
- Collaborate closely with clinical leadership, charge nurses, and anesthesia staff to ensure smooth daily operations and patient throughput.
Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma, completion of a Medical Office Assistant or Administrative program preferred.Experience : Minimum 23 years of experience in a medical front office, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient surgical setting.Language : Must be fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).Technical Skills : Proficiency with EMR / EHR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks), Microsoft Office Suite, and multi-line phone systems.Knowledge : Familiar with insurance verification, pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and medical terminology.Attributes : Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication, professionalism under pressure, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.Core Competencies :
