Research Program Assistant

Position Description :

Purpose

Broad job duties include making and receiving phone calls, recruiting and retaining study participants, completing home visits, traveling to community sites, performing IRB regulatory tasks, data collection and entry, working with clinic and community sites, developing reports, filing, logging, working with trainees, problem-solving, and brainstorming.

Primary Functions

• Serve as program assistant for Center projects. Aid on multiple active grants at CAPS as needed. Perform data collection during participant visits. In collaboration with the PI, lead recruitment efforts. Conduct study eligibility screening. Compile and maintain research files documents related to program assistant role.
• Coordinate proper data management per protocol requirements and compliance, i.e. collect and record all data pertaining to study participants. Create, maintain, and update a secure, confidential computer database on all study participants. Obtain, copy, mail, maintain files, charts, and information on study participants. Ensure compliance / adherence to the Sponsor and MCW's policies, requirements, legal contracts, and HIPAA regulations.
• Coordinate / perform / assist with the reporting and communications with the IRB, government agencies, and study sponsor regarding, study implementation, study renewal, study termination, and other activities necessary for exceptional performance from inception to close. May assist with other IRB duties.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of current studies. Review, evaluate, and report to PI on a regular basis. Discuss with PI and report any adverse events per study protocol.
• Work with community partners, assist health educators in providing health education to community sites, establish community partnerships, and work with designated community sites to advance the research, education, and training mission of the Center. Assist trainees with data collection, data entry, and provide guidance on research related issues.
• Make phone calls, receive phone calls, check voicemail, return voicemail, send, and receive mailings.
• Vehicle is required as you will be traveling throughout the community.
• There may be a requirement to work on Saturday, pending community engagement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of computers, clerical procedures, customer service standards, collaboration, and information management. Organization, time management, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
