We are seeking an experienced
- Entertainment Music Reporter (Mon-Fri, 10-6pmET)
- to join our entertainment digital team. We are looking for someone who loves all things entertainment and can think strategically, collaborate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced breaking news environment.
Note : The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 10-6pm ET. However, candidates need to be flexible as they are expected to secure and attend concerts, private listening events and red carpets for reviews and exclusive interviews.
New York-based candidate is preferableResponsibilities :Be The Post’s authority in music, crafting concert and album reviews, trusted critical commentary, artist profiles, in-depth features and trend piecesCultivate and maintain relationships with industry contacts, leveraging extensive network connections to land exclusive interviews, access breaking news, and enhance the depth and breadth of the Post’s music coverageSecure and attend press invites to concerts, red carpets, private listening parties, local music New York events and moreCapable of crafting multiple SEO-optimized news stories daily related to music and entertainment dailyProduce high-quality, engaging pieces with attention-grabbing headlines and clean and compelling copy while meeting stringent deadlinesBalance writing digital content and more longform, in-depth feature print storiesStrategically analyze the daily music news cycle and trending topics to identify relevant and engaging story anglesCollaborate seamlessly with various departments, including social media, video, and photo, to enhance daily news coverage and present stories effectively across different platformsDemonstrate initiative and self-motivation by making informed decisions and working independently in a fast-paced news environmentRemain adaptable and ready to assist with editing tasks as necessary, contributing to the overall quality and success of the content producedConduct on-camera interviews, and present engaging video segments for online platforms and social media channels, as neededQualifications :Music enthusiast with at least 5 years of experience in entertainment and celebrity breaking news, with a strong portfolio of published music articles and reviewsIn-depth music knowledge of both historic rock musicians and the hottest artists on the Billboard Hot 100 listDeep existing relationships with industry representatives, event publicists and sourcesCrucial that the candidate can balance writing longform print features and also pivot to breaking exclusive reporting for digitalExcellent on-camera presence and comfortability in front of the cameraFlexibility in covering live pop culture events (i.e. Oscars, Golden Globes, etc.) and working outside traditional business hours when neededStrong knowledge of the music entertainment industry, including current trends and key playersDemonstrated exceptional news judgment, as well as outstanding writing and reporting abilitiesProficiency in time management and multitasking, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines effectivelyCritical understanding of SEO principles and the ability to optimize content accordinglyKnowledge of traffic analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parse.ly, and an understanding of how to utilize them effectivelyExperience with content management systems, particularly WordPress, as well as proficiency in photo editing software_Note : This role follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of being on-site_ _in the New York metro area four days per week (subject to change).
