The location in Rock Hill, SC is seeking talent to fill the position of Human Resources Advisor. Supporting a site of 50 employees, the HR Advisor will have a dual reporting partnership to the Rock Hill Plant Manager and the Human Resources (HR) Manager - Converting.

This position requires proactively building relationships with employees and leadership to ensure business objectives are implemented, supporting a variety of human resource functions including but not limited to : employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, employee coaching and succession, organization change management, EEO and affirmative action, compensation, benefit and disability management, performance and goal development, employee onboarding and training, policy implementation. The HR Advisor is a consulting partner to the leadership team and will act as a change agent for the culture evolution and process improvement, as well as partner with management to create superior relationships to facilitate the attainment of the organization's business objectives. The HR Advisor is expected to establish and maintain a positive work environment that encourages utilizing diverse talents and abilities to advocate support to employees. You must maintain an effective level of business literacy that aligns with the business needs.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Partner with plant manager and others in providing assistance to promote increased employee performance and organizational development. Evaluate programs and practices to ensure they remain consistent with plant and HR goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with plant and corporate policies and procedures as well as legal compliance of federal and state requirements. Determine interpretation and application of policies and procedures to promote problem resolution.
  • Administer and maintain timekeeping, payroll processing and attendance records.
  • Facilitate recruitment efforts locally to find key talent and build partnerships with the local community, universities and relocation programs to strengthen Domtar's brand. Recruitment efforts include full-cycle support and requisition management - candidate screening, testing, selection processes and onboarding.
  • File reports and manage workers compensation and unemployment claims through compliance reporting needs.
  • Manages local records and reporting in the Human Resource Information and Workforce Management Systems.
  • Maintain a high level of confidential or sensitive information with timely decision-making capabilities.
  • Lead DEI efforts and community involvement efforts. Maintain a strategic partnership with all local community partners.
  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program; file EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and logs to confirm to EEO regulations.
  • Partner with Corporate HR to lead key HR initiatives across local site in the areas of Compensation; Policy and Procedure Administration; Talent Management; and Training & Development.
  • Analyze turnover data to identify trends and elevate information to stakeholders for recommendations.
  • Partner and coach key leaders to deliver reviews and performance plans.
  • Coach leaders and employees through complex performance management including investigations and escalate issues to the appropriate management team.
  • Ensure leadership culture and coaching to drive a performance culture, aligned with Domtar values and behaviors throughout the business.
  • Act as a change management leader with strong emphasis on operations and productivity improvements.
  • Lead and drive the succession planning with HR leadership team ensure alignment with corporate and site goals / mission.

Required Education and Competencies :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in a manufacturing / paper mill setting.
  • Demonstrates strong conflict resolution and performance management skills.
  • Experience coaching managers and employees for effective skill building.
  • Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); knowledge in Outlook preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and timely decision-making ability.
  • Good communicator at all levels of organization to include listening, writing, and presenting.
  • Demonstrate a safe and healthy environment while providing quality service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Self-sufficient, results-oriented with a commitment to quality, service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to influence and coach.
  • Demonstrated high level of time-sensitive work prioritization, accuracy, organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic experience with applicant tracking systems, running I-9 verifications, ordering background and drug screens.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).
