The Unit Coordinator / Monitor Tech at North Mississippi Health Services plays a vital role in medical record maintenance, patient care, secretarial / clerical / administrative tasks, inventory control, and communication within the nursing unit. JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains the medical record at unit level to assure timely and accurate access to pertinent patient data.
- Shreds discarded patient information every shift.
- Performs routine tasks within an assigned patient unit under the supervision of a nurse.
- Prepares, compiles, and maintains unit records and reports to facilitate quality performance of functions.
- Documents as appropriate.
- Maintains and monitors unit supplies to assure adequate availability of budgeted resources.
- Facilitates unit communications including, but not limited to, telephones, intercom, computer, etc., and relays information as appropriate.
- Reports patient information such as abnormal vital signs, patient condition, etc. to RN / LPN.
- Projects caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
- Performs duties assigned to meet personal needs and comforts of patients.
- Interprets rhythms and / or patterns and reports to RN / CN.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; preferred
Licenses and Certifications
CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate computer.Completes SCM training; successfully completes the requirements for basic ECG monitoring within 3 months of employment.Completes unit coordinator orientation; ability to operate fax machines, laser printers and central monitors.Have organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Utilizes and cares for equipment on nursing unit.Must meet continuing education requirements.Maintains knowledge and resources necessary to provide care for neonate, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.Must be able to recognize changes in patient condition and report appropriately.Anticipates resources needed.Prioritizes work assignments.Ability to assimilate data and information and report to appropriate person.Ability to perform several functions at once.Initiates and follows through with work assignments is a self-starter.Assists in orientation of new employees to unit and reports to the DON / Charge Nurse.Must be able to prioritize patient care, and carry out assigned duties, and report and / or document same utilizing worksheet.Assume additional duties as delegated or needed.Demonstrate commitment to the origination and its mission.Maintains confidentiality of patients and employee information and records.Projects a positive image of the unit to all customers who present to the unit.Routinely communicates with professional caregivers, ancillary caregivers, patients, visitors, and co-workers.Demonstrates telephone etiquette and effective interpersonal skills.Required to project positive image of the unit to all customers.Promotes harmony on unit and with other departments.Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.J-18808-Ljbffr
