Quality Engineering Manager
Shaw Industries is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Manager to lead and optimize Plant HW's quality systems. This role will focus on implementing the Shaw Management System (SMS), overseeing compliance and documentation, and driving continuous improvement in product quality and the customer experience. This position is based in South Pittsburg, TN.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the plant's Shaw Management System (SMS). Ensure robustness of the quality alert system to address SMS opportunities and gaps.
- Own and manage the Document Control System to maintain compliance and accessibility of all quality documentation.
- Oversee the procurement and calibration of monitoring and measuring devices used in the manufacturing processes.
- Ensure effective traceability of quality-related records to support plant goals and compliance requirements.
- Manage the disposition of non-conforming materials, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
- Oversee and maintain all quality training requirements across the plant.
- Serve as the plant Management Representative for SMS, working closely with corporate quality leadership.
- Direct and support the Quality Control (QC) team, including providing leadership and resources for the QC Supervisor.
- Track, analyze, and report on plant quality performance metrics; identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with plant leadership to implement solutions.
- Act as the primary plant contact for customer quality claims, leading investigation and resolution efforts.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of UL GreenGuard and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification samples. Lead resolution of any findings.
- Lead and optimize the Management of Change (MOC) process to support operational changes while maintaining product quality.
- Facilitate and continuously improve Quality Improvement Team (QIT) meetings with plant leadership.
- Partner with sourcing when qualifying vendors.
- Develop Quality training as needed.
- Build relationships with Financial Services, Sales Reps, Customer Service, Product Category, and customers.
- Work closely with and comply with directions from the Divisional Quality Manager.
- Any other duties assigned by the Plant Manager.
Performance Competencies :
The Quality Manager will demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and impactful messaging. He or she should be able to build a compelling case when steering the team to action. The Quality Manager should also be able to navigate between critical vs. non-critical quality issues and filter the messaging to the team to provide proper guidance and direction during ambiguous situations.
