Manufacturing Team Lead - 1st Shift

Overview

This role is based at the Huntsville location and involves working a first shift from 4 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line, including Service Shops.
• Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees, typically managing hourly employee populations.
• Spend 75% of time on the shop floor with strong team coaching ability and follow-up.
• Familiarity with managing and communicating through lean production systems.
• Use and teach basic problem solving tools (5 Why, Fishbone).
• Collaborative leadership with key functions such as EHS and quality.
• Broaden knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy / strategy; may include support roles with specialized technical fields while continuing to develop higher level knowledge and skills.
• Understand key business drivers and how the work of the team integrates with other teams to contribute to the area.
• Autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework; resolve issues using good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures; consult more senior team members for issues outside defined instructions / parameters.
• Interpersonal skills and potential to lead a junior team; for customer-facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and act as the interface between the customer and GE; explain technical information to others.
