This Community Involvement Manager leadership role is responsible for shaping and advancing EMC's community involvement and charitable giving strategy in alignment with EMC's mission and values. We're seeking someone with demonstrated experience in nonprofit relations, grantmaking, event management, community sponsorships / advertising, team member volunteerism / engagement, and public relations. This leader collaborates across departments, manages a high-performing team, and ensures that all programs are executed with excellence and effectiveness.
Essential Functions
- Leads and advances EMC's corporate community involvement and charitable giving strategies.
- Serves as a strategic advisor for Foundation operations, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and values.
- Reviews donation / grant requests and discusses donation / grant requests with CEO or with Foundation Board providing recommendation into decision-making.
- Makes recommendations on nonprofit partnerships and funding opportunities to maximize community impact.
- Leads the planning and organizing Foundation Board Meetings, including the board book and reports.
- Partners with EMC senior leadership and the EMC Insurance Foundation Board to develop and implement the strategy and tactics for a comprehensive EMC charitable giving program, including both corporate and Foundation donations.
- Oversees EMC's community events / sponsorships selection strategy, execution, and promotion to maximize exposure and build brand awareness for both corporate and branch locations across EMC.
- Creates internal and external communications that increase awareness of the value of EMC's community involvement and charitable giving activities and generates publicity.
- Develops initiatives that promote team member volunteerism and engagement. Oversees and manages community involvement programs and activities and drives improvement for community involvement participation.
- Establishes metrics to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Oversees and manages community involvement programs and activities. Fosters relationships with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and internal stakeholders. Serves as a liaison to key community groups on community efforts.
- Represents EMC in community events and external partnerships to enhance brand reputation.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to integrate community involvement with marketing and organizational priorities. Serves as a company spokesperson on community involvement topics.
- Oversees communication efforts that highlight EMC's philanthropic efforts and outcomes using best practices in corporate philanthropy and community engagement.
- Oversees and monitors the workload and performance of the Community Involvement team within Marcom, and performs all duties expected of a people leader at EMC.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, business, marketing, public relations, journalism or related fieldTen years of experience in corporate philanthropy, nonprofit operations, community / public relations, marketing, or corporate communications or related experiencePrior leadership experienceKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Advanced knowledge of corporate philanthropy and community involvement strategiesAdvanced ability to assess nonprofit programs and manage grantmaking processesExcellent knowledge of volunteer program planning and executionExcellent data gathering, reporting, and program measurement skillsExcellent ability to lead project teams, collaborate across departments and with external partners, multi-task, and meet deadlinesFamiliarity with Blackbaud or similar software for tracking and reportingStrong knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, and publishing softwareExcellent ability to build strong working relationships to achieve shared goals, drive results, and think creatively about solutionsExcellent organizational and project management, organizational, and follow-through skillsExcellent written communication skills for electronic and print mediaLocal driving; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards will be required if drivingAbility to work evening and weekend hours occasionally in support of community eventsThe hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $101,677-$145,733 range or the $112,094-$169,670 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
