Overview
This position will be part of the xEV Drive Unit team for Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for functional test development, testing programs, process improvements and production support for both New Product Introduction as well as Mass Production support. This position has direct contact with multiple departments within the manufacturing site and will support other departments for all testing-related concerns.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, build and program functional test systems
- Collect and analyze test performance data to drive process improvements
- Support production for test-related issues
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain test equipment
- Develop process documentation
- Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Assist other departments in setting up testing trials / experiments for customer / internal trouble testing
- Work within small teams to develop manufacturing locations and processes to support smooth mass production start-up of EV products
- Support Design team in developing testing specifications and applying them to testing equipment for EV products
- Support PE test in development, manufacturing and installation of testing equipment
- Develop testing program protocols, including secure storage, transfer to equipment, change point controls and verifications of equipment / products
- Typical NPI duties as detailed by internal Astemo and customer requirements for start-up of new product / location

4-year college degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or 2-year degree with 4 years of manufacturing experienceKnowledge / experience troubleshooting test equipment problems in hardware and softwareKnowledge of electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and programmingKnowledge / experience troubleshooting production equipmentExcellent communication skillsFlexible in working shifts as required to meet production schedulesExperience with technical computer language and its applicationsKnowledge / experience with power electronicsFamiliarity with manufacturing processesAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as requiredPreferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills)
Automotive industry experience, with emphasis in electro / mechanical devicesKnowledge of EV components such as inverters and motorsFluency in JapaneseVisual C++ CertificationExperience with VXI, PXI and GPIB instrument interfacesAutomotive electronics experienceExperience with National Instruments TestStand and / or Agilent Test Exec SLKnowledge / experience with automotive power electronicsSoftware
