The Opportunity
As a Product Repair Technician , you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing MRI coils with a focus on repairing plastic components and ensuring functional integrity. This includes using hand tools, adhesives, soldering, and specialized equipment to restore coil housings, and electrical performance according to OEM standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect and test MRI coils for physical or electrical defects.
- Repair or replace plastic housings, including sanding, gluing, and plastic welding.
- Use specialized tools such as :
Heat guns
Precision screwdriversSoldering ironsMultimeters and impedance testersPlastic welders or epoxy systemsFollow repair documentation and quality standards.Clean, prep, and finish plastic surfaces for cosmetic and functional restoration.Perform basic electrical continuity checks and functional tests.Document repair processes in internal systems (ERP / CRM).Work in an ESD-safe environment to prevent component damage.Support new product development initiatives.Maintain our ISO 13485 compliance by following processes and relevant work instructions. You may be asked to create, review, and update work instructions related to your role to support clear and streamlined workflowsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities you'll need for this opportunity :
High School diploma / GED required, AS / AA Degree in Electronics Engineering or Automotive Repair is a plus1-3 years in electronics or mechanical repair (medical devices a plus).Experience with plastic repairs and cosmetic finishing (e.g., Bondo, sanding, painting).Proficiency in hand tools, soldering, and electrical testing.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.High attention to detail and ability to work under magnification.Familiarity with RF testing or electromagnetic shielding.Experience repairing or refurbishing MRI coils or similar imaging equipment is a plus.Certification in ESD handling or IPC standards is a plus.Why we love ScanMed, and why you will too!
