The Opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? Join us at CSL Plasma, where you will play a vital role in evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. You’ll be responsible for administering and supervising approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations) and providing limited emergency medical care to both donors and staff.
In this role, you will report directly to the Center Manager and be an integral part of our team!
The Role
- Foster Positive Relationships : Promote a welcoming atmosphere for all donors.
- Conduct Confidential Interviews : Engage with donors to gather essential information regarding their suitability to donate plasma.
- Collaborate with Medical Professionals : Work alongside the Center Medical Director and / or Center Physician to address medically related inquiries from staff.
- Perform Health Assessments : Review medical histories and health assessments to determine donor suitability.
- Provide Support : Notify and counsel donors about reactive test results and refer them for follow-up care.
- Explain Informed Consent : Clearly communicate procedures, potential risks, and ensure donors understand their rights.
- Handle Emergencies : Provide routine care during medical emergencies and maintain emergency kits.
- Review Test Results : Assess donor suitability based on screening and laboratory test results.
- Monitor Donor Health : Identify signs that may affect a donor's ability to continue donating.
- Oversee Immunization Programs : Understand and manage donor immunization schedules and antibody titer results.
- Maintain Accurate Records : Ensure all donor data is accurately recorded in our electronic management system.
- Promote Safety : Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Confidentiality is Key : Safeguard all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-Training : Be open to learning new skills in various areas to support our business needs.
- Bilingual Skills : May be required to enhance communication with our diverse donor base.
- Additional Duties : Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Your Skills and ExperienceEducation
Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.Must have an active state licenseOR, state certification as an Advanced-EMT (AEMT).If graduated from a foreign medical school, must be currently licensed as a physician.Experience
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment.Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center is preferred.Ability to perform physical assessments and analyze health indicators.Strong communication skills to educate donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.Working Conditions
Ability to make impactful decisions within your work unit.Must be able to follow oral and written instructions effectively.Visual and auditory skills to interact with customers and monitor equipment.Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods.Capability to assess physical conditions through sight, touch, and smell.Manual dexterity for various tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds.Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Exposure to hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment is required.Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as needed.Our Benefits
