Summary

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division seeks a Quality Manager at North Kingstown location. On-site.

About The Role

The Quality team maximizes customer satisfaction and profitability through development and continuous improvement. The Manager leads the team to promote quality and process improvement, maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards, and certify ISO programs.

What You'll Do

  • Promote a team atmosphere, quality achievement, process improvement, and the quality mindset throughout the organization.
  • Develop, mentor, and oversee staff performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives affecting quality, safety, and environmental impact.
  • Assist production staff in the resolution of safety, quality and productivity issues.
  • Interface with customers and the service organization managing quality issues to resolution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and external suppliers to establish quality requirements, ensure compliance, and product conformance.
  • Establish and maintain an effective Quality Management System.
  • Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and systems pertaining to Quality.
  • Recommend new or improved quality control methods, policies, procedures, and / or standards.
  • Ensure the organization's continued certification and accreditation activities.
  • Manage internal, external, and customer audits and present results to the organization.
  • Liaison with customers and staff to facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Review issue trends and statistical analysis; advise on disposition and improvement actions.
  • Identify training needs, create training material and conduct training programs on quality activities in areas such as continuous improvement tools, ISO programs and vendor qualification management.
  • Audit operational processes to determine capabilities and performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and verify improvement results are sustained.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technical skills by attending training classes, technical and administration courses, independent research, seminars, exhibits and trade shows, as needed.
  • Occasional travel to customers, vendors, trade shows or other Hexagon locations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of metrology, statistics and industrial practices.
  • Systematic problem-solving skills to solve complex issues.
  • Ability to participate and provide leadership on teams and maintain a positive work environment with those teams. Understands team functions, leadership techniques and project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, Lean Manufacturing and TQM is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO17025 standard requirements.
  • 10+ years of technical experience, 2+ years of supervisory / management experience, preferred.
  • Team player : supports teammates and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation). Understands how to present information to varying levels within the organization.
  • Strong people skills. Ability to resolve conflicts, provide support, leadership, and motivation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to supervise work of Quality personnel.
  • General project management and leadership experience.
  • Physical Demands

  • Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending / kneeling.
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects.
  • Regularly move around the office and occasionally the factory floor.
  • Occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus.
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and customers.
  • Work Environment

  • Primarily an office setting, with occasional visits to the factory floor.
  • Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated.
  • Office noise levels are considered low to moderate.
  • Factory noise levels are considered moderate.
  • If required, PPE will be provided.
  • May require travel up to 25% to customers, suppliers and other HMI facilities.
