- Health Policy Director Salary Range : $75,000 – $90,000 Reports to : Chief Executive Officer Direct Reports : None The Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as our Health Policy Director .
- This role drives TPCA’s policy and advocacy efforts, advancing the work of Tennessee’s community health centers and strengthening access to care for patients across the state.
- The Health Policy Director leads TPCA’s federal and state policy strategy and will shape how TPCA navigates evolving healthcare policy, advocating for the sustainability of health centers, and represent health center interests with state and national partners.
- This position manages contract lobbying activities, engages with key decision makers, and works closely with health center leaders to ensure their voices are reflected in policy decisions that impact their operations and the communities they serve.
- As part of TPCA’s leadership team, the Health Policy Director will collaborate across departments to align advocacy, education, and partnership efforts with TPCA’s mission and strategic plan.
- The ideal candidate brings a blend of policy expertise, political savvy, and relationship-building skills and is energized by translating complex policy into meaningful action for Tennessee’s health centers and patients.
What You’ll Do :
Lead development and implementation of TPCA’s policy and advocacy strategy in coordination with TPCA leadership, member health centers, and external partners.Serve as TPCA’s lead liaison to key policy stakeholders, including TennCare, the Tennessee Department of Health, and the National Association of Community Health Centers.Monitor and analyze state and federal policy developments, assess their impact on health centers and patients, and communicate actionable insights to TPCA staff, members and stakeholders.Develop policy recommendations and resources that inform health center strategy and guide TPCA’s advocacy priorities.Manage contract lobbying activities and coordinate engagement with legislators and policymakers.Lead TPCA’s State Hill Day , coordinate federal visits with Tennessee’s congressional delegation, and support participation in national advocacy events.Build and maintain strong relationships with legislators, provider organizations, and advocacy partners.Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to health center leaders on issues such reimbursement, payment, and value-based care initiatives.What We’re Looking For :
Master’s degree in public policy, public health, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in health policy, government affairs, or related work.Strong understanding of federal and state legislative and regulatory processes, ideally within Tennessee.Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, agency leaders, and community partners.Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication skills , including the ability to translate complex policies for a variety of audiences.Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.Knowledge of community health centers , Medicaid, or value-based care preferred.Commitment to TPCA’s mission and the health of Tennessee’s communities.Why Work at TPCA?TPCA is a dynamic, team-oriented membership association that provides leadership, advocacy, and supportive expertise to the state’s community health centers.TPCA and our members are bonded by a shared purpose – ensuring all Tennesseans have access to quality and affordable health care.At TPCA, our benefits include :
