About the Role
We are seeking a Lab Technician to support the operations of a dynamic research lab with a focus on small molecule purification and analysis . Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Managing Director, you’ll play a key role in molecule purification, synthesis support, and lab maintenance.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with experience operating HPLC systems and related analytical instrumentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Molecule Purification
- Perform purification of substrates and final compounds using HPLC and related techniques
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot purification systems to ensure optimal performance
- Accurately document purification workflows, yields, and results
- Optimize purification processes to improve output and efficiency
2. Building Block Synthesis
Assist in synthesis of small-molecule building blocks and intermediatesFollow protocols and document procedures and reaction outcomesPrepare reagents and manage small-scale synthetic reactions under supervision3. Lab Inventory & Purchasing
Monitor inventory of chemicals, consumables, and equipmentOrder supplies and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveryTrack lab expenditures and assist with budget compliance4. General Lab Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab spaceClean, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on lab equipmentAdhere to safety procedures and proper hazardous waste disposal protocolsQualifications
Education
Required :
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific fieldPreferred :Advanced coursework or training in analytical chemistry or separation sciencesExperience
Required :
1–2 years of hands-on experience with small molecule purificationProficiency in operating and maintaining HPLC systems (e.g., Agilent, Shimadzu)Experience interpreting chromatography dataFamiliarity with lab protocols, SOPs, and safety complianceAccurate documentation of experimental procedures and resultsPreferred :
Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (e.g., GLP)Exposure to method development and HPLC optimizationFamiliarity with mass spectrometry (MS), UV-Vis, TLC, and NMRExperience with post-purification techniques (e.g., lyophilization, rotary evaporation)Technical Skills
Proficient with analytical software such as ChemStation , MassHunter , and Prep LCMSComfortable working with chromatography and analytical instrumentationStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsEffective communicator and team player
