Overview
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Youth Leader – Expanded Learning Programs (ELP) is responsible for the direct supervision of program participants, and for the daily planning and implementation of expanded learning program activities. The Youth Leader collaborates with other team members, families, and school personnel to provide participants with academic support, enrichment activities, and other student programs that increase student skill building, encourage healthy choices and behaviors, promote diversity and equity, support youth voice and leadership, and increase overall academic achievement. The Youth Leader position requires high energy, dedication, patience, and a strong desire to mentor youth, strengthen families, and serve the community.

Responsibilities
Actively supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all timesAssist in the planning, management, and implementation of age-appropriate program activities that engage students in active and meaningful experiencesCommunicate in a positive and professional manner with all participants, families, school and district personnel, and community partnersCollaborate with school personnel and program partners to align high quality academic activities and coordinate student servicesProvide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all studentsEnsure that program meets the requirements of the ASES / 21st CCLC grants, school district, and the YMCA of San Diego CountyPerform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safeVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situationPhysical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activitiesTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :
This position occasionally requires travel throughout San Diego County in the event of shift coverageSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma / GEDVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation.Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities.PRE-HIRE CONTINGENCIES :
Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notificationsNegative TB assessment or test results obtained within the past 60 days, prior to working on a school site, and every four (4) years thereafterCPR / AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child / Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations : American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety & Health InstituteCompletion of one of the following :48 college credits at an institution of higher education

Pay Range
