    Certified Medical Assistant – Pittsburgh, PA 15232

  • Direct Hire - Full-time hire as an employee of UPMC
  • Access to full benefits
  • Monday – Friday – Daylight Schedule (no evenings, weekends or holidays)
  • Up to $2 1 per hour as new employee (performance raises available, after hire)

    • Must have at minimum all of the following – candidates without this experience will be declined :

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Degree Program, required
  • Medical Assistant Certification, required
  • Proficiency with computers, required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, required
  • Examination, diagnostic and treatment room experience, required

    • Certified Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care and ensuring patient satisfaction. The daily tasks will include both front and back-office duties, including taking vital signs, registering patients, scheduling testing, exams, and treatments, as well as front desk coverage. No evenings / weekends / holidays!

    Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.

    Responsibilities :

  • Send / receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms / requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam / procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam / procedure rooms.
  • Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to exam / procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information / history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients / families.
  • Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
  • Comply with the requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
