Staff Attorney (Cobb County Office)

Overview

Atlanta Legal Aid Society ("Legal Aid") seeks a Staff Attorney for its Cobb County office located in downtown Marietta, Georgia. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters, including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education, and health law. The staff currently consists of a Managing Attorney, a TPO Project Manager, 9 staff attorneys (full and part-time), and 6 support staff members.

About the Role : We are offering a full-time Attorney position, but will consider the option for part-time status, depending on your needs and the needs of Legal Aid. Salary and benefits will differ based on employment status. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our clients\' needs and gain experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Handling a mixed caseload using a variety of methods, including litigation, negotiation, mediation, brief service, transactional work, courthouse clinics, advice and referral, and community education.
• Caseload will include a high percentage of housing and family law matters.
• In-court litigation will be a significant part of this position.
• Participating in task forces, committees, social service organizations, and local bar associations.
