We are looking for a dynamic and hard-working Logistics Manager to be fully embedded within a key customer’s office. In this strategic role, you will serve as the primary liaison between Fairmont Logistics and the client, driving operational excellence and managing freight costs. Though based onsite in Great Neck, NY, you will remain closely connected to Fairmont corporate leadership and collaborate with internal teams across the business. This position is ideal for a logistics professional who thrives at enabling top-line sales growth while driving freight costs down as well as operational excellence.
Required Experience & Traits
- 3-5 years of previous experience in freight / transportation management, specifically direct experience with carrier negotiation, transportation contract management, effective freight cost reduction strategies, with proven ability to balance rate pressures and gross margin expectations.
- Financial literacy with the ability to assess profitability, optimize cost structures, and implement cost-saving strategies while balancing competitive rates and margin expectations.
- Demonstrated success in identifying opportunities that reduce costs while enabling new sales revenue growth.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment – decisive, organized, and able to follow through on all commitments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently while staying aligned with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the on-site representative of Fairmont Logistics, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the customer’s Operations teams.Consistently meet or exceed key performance indicators, including margin percentage, load count, tracking compliance, and timeliness benchmarksCollaborate closely with Fairmont’s internal teams (Operations, Carrier Management, Finance, and Sales Leadership) while maintaining clear alignment with corporate account strategy and management directives.Proactively acquire competitive pricing, improve service delivery, identify opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction, and expand Fairmont’s value proposition within the account.Carrier Sourcing & Operational Excellence
Negotiate carrier rates and source competitive pricing across truckload, intermodal, and drayage.Build and maintain a reliable book of repeat, high-performing carrier partners, ensuring compliance with DOT authorities, insurance, and ELD standards.Monitor shipment performance and proactively resolve service issues, maintaining full visibility and timely communication with customers, carriers, and internal teams.Accurately manage load data in Aljex, ensuring tracking notes, pick-up / delivery details, and accessorial changes are captured.Provide logistics expertise and recommendations to optimize transportation strategies and improve supply chain efficiency.Reporting & Administration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date account records and reporting to support customer visibility, strategic planning, and forecasting.Prepare and present periodic reports on account health, service performance, and pipeline opportunities.Benefits
