Overview
The UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Department of Education and Community Outreach offers a variety of programs in teacher education. Each program is designed to bring participants the latest in instruction techniques and to emphasize the personal dimension of working with classroom experiences and a variety of methods of instruction. Skilled and enthusiastic instructors make the program a professionally valuable and personally meaningful learning experience.
The programs address current issues in Teacher Education. Participants receive instruction in the fundamentals of Teacher Education that provide outstanding service to adult students in the programs. Courses feature timely topics in an online environment related to helping teachers enhance their classroom teaching skills and abilities.

A reasonable estimate of compensation for teaching one section of this course is $500-$3,330. The final amount within this range depends on course modality, units of instruction, and number of enrollments. Instructional agreements are made on a section-by-section basis at the University's discretion with no guarantee to teach future sections of this course or any other courses.
As a condition of employment, finalists may be required to disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining misconduct; whether they are currently under investigation for misconduct; whether they left a position during an investigation for alleged misconduct; or have filed an appeal with a previous employer. "Misconduct" means any violation of policies or laws governing conduct at the applicant's previous place of employment, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, or other forms of harassment, discrimination, dishonesty, or unethical conduct as defined by the employer. Instructors should have extensive knowledge and skills in teacher education. Specific duties include in-class or online instruction to participants who are currently working in K-12 teaching positions, or who want to reenter the field. Instructors should be able to teach a substantial amount of detailed information in a creative and engaging manner to a large number of adult learners. Additional specific duties include :

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
As an academic department within UC San Diego, all Division of Extended Studies Program instructors and courses must be formally approved according to the regulations of the Academic Senate of the University of California. Eligibility to teach a course is contingent upon this formal academic approval. Teaching assignments are by agreement, and the instructor's Letter of Agreement outlines the deliverables, course schedule, and compensation terms, subject to department policies and procedures. The university makes no commitment to hire an instructor until a signed instructor Letter of Agreement is received. If the course section an instructor plans to teach is canceled, the instructor agreement, including rights to compensation for future sections, is voided. Remuneration is for classroom hours only and does not include time spent on course preparation or other events.
