Position Summary :
The Corporate Controller will oversee all corporate accounting and financial reporting functions for Advanced Management Group. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position requires a strategic financial leader who will manage the company's financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide critical financial analysis to support executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise combined with experience in management company operations.
Position Responsibilities :
The Property Controller will complete a broad variety of accounting tasks for the company including but not limited to the following as other duties may be assigned :
- Corporate Financial Management Lead all aspects of corporate accounting including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements for the management company. Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance and operational efficiency. Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, management reports, and board presentations.
- Financial Planning & Analysis Develop and manage the annual corporate budget and quarterly forecasts for the management company. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on management fee revenue, operating expenses, and profitability trends. Partner with department heads to analyze departmental performance and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Support strategic initiatives with financial modeling and business case development.
- Vendor Management Oversee vendor payment processes and maintain strong relationships with key service providers. Review and analyze vendor contracts, service agreements, and partnership arrangements for financial impact. Manage insurance renewals. Coordinate with legal counsel on vendor partner agreements (VPAs) and other contractual matters.
- Systems & Process Leadership Serve as the financial system administrator for QuickBooks and coordinate with teams using onsite property systems. Lead initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve integration between systems. Develop and maintain management reporting dashboards and automated financial reports. Ensure accurate reconciliation between multiple accounting platforms and resolve system discrepancies.
- Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax requirements for the management company. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual audits and tax return preparation. Implement and monitor wire transfer security protocols and fraud prevention measures. Coordinate with legal counsel and oversee business licensing, regulatory filings, and corporate compliance requirements.
- Team Development Lead and develop the corporate accounting team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department. Cross-train team members to ensure coverage and build departmental capabilities.
Required Experience :
Education & Credentials Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. CPA certification is strongly preferred, with consideration given to candidates actively pursuing certification.Professional Experience Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a controller or senior accounting role. Experience with management companies, professional services firms, or multi-entity corporate structures required. Demonstrated expertise in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and management company operations. Proven track record of managing complex vendor relationships and service agreements.Technical Competencies Expert knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, with experience in Entrata or similar property management systems preferred. Strong Excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling. Experience with accounts receivable aging analysis and collection management. Knowledge of management fee structures and revenue recognition principles.Preferred QualificationsExperience in property management or real estate services companies. Familiarity with extended stay and residential property operations. Background in managing third-party administrator relationships. Knowledge of Nevada state tax and regulatory requirements.
