Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 17 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele Float position requiring at least two years of recent experience and an active NC or compact RN license. Responsibilities Work on a Med / Surg Telemetry Float Pool in a hospital setting Expected to float to all medical / surgical floors based on unit needs Patient population is general Med / Surg patients (not cardiac telemetry) Target patient ratio is 1 : 6, with a maximum of 1 : 7 during critical staffing Schedule is 12-hour night shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15), working 36 hours per week Weekend work required every other weekend at manager's discretion Self-scheduling is available per unit needs On-site orientation is provided for 24 hours Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for charting and medication management Travelers are assigned through the Centralized Resource Nursing Pool and may float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed Must be comfortable floating without restrictions based on census and skill set Required to participate in Storm Team or Hurricane Team response during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations Scrub colors are navy and / or white Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays if scheduled; no RTO allowed during orientation RTO up to 7 days permitted (with certain restrictions); additional time off requires approval Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility will be offered a local rate Not eligible if you are a current travel Per Diem clinician at this health system Previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employees must have a 12 month gap before travel consideration Completion of online, webinar, and in-person modules required pre-start and annually Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required by start date Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg nursing experience required BCLS certification required; ACLS and NIH certifications preferred Experience starting IVs and working with telemetry required Experience with EPIC EMR system required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Unit does not accept first-time travelers Applicants must provide two recent manager or supervisor references upon consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622979.
