Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager – Black & Veatch

Overview
Lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians on overhead transmission line projects. Manage design quality, budget, schedule, and client interactions across design services and EPC programs. Support business development and proposals where required.
Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians
- Manage diverse and challenging projects across our portfolio of design services and EPC programs
- Oversee design quality, budget, and schedule
- Support client interaction, proposals, and business development
- Develop and manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines for assigned projects
- Actively manage project changes with the Client in coordination with the Project Manager
- Review lower level engineering work, coordinate multi-discipline activity, and may serve as engineer of record for assigned projects
- Develop good working relationships with project leadership, design teams, and support staff
- Communicate client interests and drivers to project team and develop approaches to meet these concerns
- Provide support to business development and pursuit activities
- Occasional travel to support site visits, design reviews, and client meetings
- Apply knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program
- Ensure client and industry standards are maintained on assigned projects; provide guidance and mentorship to team members
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited programMinimum of 8 years related work experienceExperience managing Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) or design services overhead transmission line projects for investor-owned utilities in the United StatesEight years of experience in design of high voltage overhead transmission lines with strong understanding of PLS-CADD, line routing, structural loading design, foundation design, and overall project lifecycleGood communication skills and ability to engage with clients to grow relationshipsAdvanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standardsWorking knowledge of interdisciplinary project coordination : procurement, subcontract administration, permitting, real estate and land acquisition, and construction supportWorking knowledge of the proposal process and developing engineering estimates; Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferredPreferred Qualifications
Experience in overhead transmission line projects for Iaa utilities; strong client relationship focusProficiency with project coordination across disciplines and life cycle phasesActive pursuit or possession of professional licensureCertifications
