Position Summary :
The Cook or Chef is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, culturally appropriate meals in a shelter environment that supports children and youth. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food service, committed to the well-being of minors, and capable of maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining space. We are looking for a dependable team player who values consistency, compassion, and community care.

- Program : Residential Shelter Services
- Salary : $20.81 Hourly (Bi-weekly pay)
- Location : West El Paso
- Employment Type : Full-Time, Permanent
- Work Schedule : Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Travel : Minimal; may include occasional local errands or supply pickups.

Qualifications Required :
MUST BE FLUENT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISHHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum one (1) year of experience in food preparation or institutional cookingFood Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periodsMust pass background checks and health screeningsExperience working in environments serving children or vulnerable populations preferredKey Responsibilities :
Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks according to menu plans and dietary guidelinesMaintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining areas, and equipmentMonitor food inventory and assist with ordering suppliesFollow all food safety regulations and agency protocolsCollaborate with program staff to support special dietary needs and meal accommodationsParticipate in inspections, audits, and ongoing trainingPromote a positive and respectful atmosphere in the dining areaCore Competencies :
