The Opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? Join us as we evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures! In this vital role, you will administer and supervise approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations) and provide limited emergency medical care to both donors and staff. You’ll be an essential part of our team, reporting directly to the Center Manager.
The Role
As a key player in our center, you will :
- Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
- Conduct confidential interviews to gather necessary information regarding donor suitability.
- Collaborate with the Center Medical Director and / or Center Physician to address medically related questions from staff.
- Perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors, determining their suitability to donate plasma.
- Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer them for follow-up care.
- Explain informed consent to applicants, ensuring they understand procedures and potential risks.
- Handle medical emergencies at the center, providing routine care and escalating situations as necessary.
- Review test results to determine continued donor suitability, adhering to SOPs.
- Assess signs and symptoms that may affect a donor's ability to continue donating.
- Oversee donor immunization programs and maintain awareness of immunization schedules.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in our electronic management system.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work environment , following all health and safety policies.
- Uphold confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Be open to cross-training in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required to better serve our diverse community.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and ExperienceEducation
Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.Must have an active state licenseOR, state certification as an Advanced-EMT (AEMT).If graduated from a foreign medical school, must be currently licensed as a physician.Experience
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment.Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center is preferred.Ability to perform physical assessments, including heart and lung sounds.Skill in educating donors and staff about the benefits of plasma donation programs.Working Conditions
