Position Description
The Grant Writer develops resources, researches funding sources, and writes proposals to obtain grant funding from various organizations to obtain funding for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA). The Grant Writer is responsible for finding funding opportunities for the organization and writing polished proposals to earn grant funds. Duties include researching deadlines, drafting grant requests, and submitting reports for approval.
Position Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Program Directors to obtain funding sources and prepare grant proposals that reflect the goals and objectives of CCDA (ensuring no conflicts with Catholic identity and values of CCDA)
- Develop resources, research funding sources, and write proposals to obtain grant funding from various organizations
- Ensure each grant-writing project complies with the funder’s policies, formats, timelines, reporting, and legal requirements
- Review and assist in the preparation of restricted / unrestricted grant applications and proposals and other related documents
- Outline accurate budgets that support the proposed activities defined in the proposal
Other Duties
Work closely with the Finance team to monitor grant management and disbursement of funds and review for compliance with the terms of grantsMonitor proposal process, ensuring funder’s policies and legal requirements are followedMaintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunitiesQualifications & Skills
Grant writing experience that demonstrates a proven track record of securing new funding opportunitiesThe ability to identify potential and relevant grant writing opportunitiesExcellent research and organization skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to communicate with all levels within CCDA and with external fundersExcellent computer skills including Excel skills requiredMotivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independentlyMust be willing to uphold Catholic moral and social justice teachings in the workplaceKnowledge of Catholic Charities Ministries preferredEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree2-4 years of successful grant writing experiencePrevious grant budget development and management preferredKnowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria, and funding cyclesPhysical Demands
