Job Summary :

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN / LPN) provides appropriate nursing care as directed by a Registered Nurse. This includes gathering and reporting data, carrying out orders, and performing therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population-appropriate manner, consistent with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities :

• Gather and report patient data.
• Carry out physician orders.
• Perform therapeutic procedures on patients.
• Provide nursing care as directed by an RN.
• Perform specimen collection.
• Monitor vital signs.
• Perform follow up phone calls.
• Interpret laboratory results.
• Label specimens.
• Perform medication reconciliation.
• Manage pharmacy calls and patient refill requests.
• Set up aseptic / sterile procedure trays.
• Perform telephone triage.
• Collect throat specimens.
• Obtain and instruct clean catch urine.
• Perform simple dressing changes.
• Perform Pap Smears.
• Collect vaginal specimens.
• Perform EKG.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Monitor patient health questionnaire / history / allergies.
