Position Summary :
Accountable for researching, analyzing, documenting, and resolving a variety of retail (grocery) freight deduction claims. This includes investigating and identifying deduction patterns, operation procedures, and contract agreement issues, and entails assisting with solution development with sales and customer teams. A financial mindset is needed to perform account reconciliation. You must be a strong communicator and with a high level of deductive reasoning and analytical capabilities.
Job Duties :
- Research, validate, and resolve invoice deductions related to logistics / freight / customer orders, which encompass customer fines, fees, overages, shortages, and damages
- Quickly handle urgent freight issues while working collaboratively with internal and external departments
- Perform root cause analysis to create solutions for improvements to eliminate future charges and save the company money
- Process “return merchandise authorizations” and “customer convenience” returns
- Responsible for final disposition on returned product after credits are issued
- Request and provide "Proof of Delivery" documentation to resolve deductions and request repay
- Work closely with warehouse and distribution teams to request cycle counts, return product to inventory, etc.
- Work closely with Sales to get product sold prior to the sell-by default date
- Utilize pipeline reports to research, resolve, and reconcile OS&D / logistics-related deductions from invoices
- Resolve open deductions in a timely manner to avoid write-offs
- Work with finance trade promotions deductions teams, customers, and transportation providers to clear deductions
- Build relationships with customers and internal teams through trust and open and interactive communication
- Pull shipping documentation and support for auditors as requested
- Problem solving, prioritizing, root cause analysis, and planning skills are essential to the position
- Create and run ad-hoc reports to help bring visibility to deduction trends
Qualifications & Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred; or those with related and specific experience in OD&D requiredMust have 3 years of related job experience in deductions, collections, or accounts receivable, with knowledge of warehousing and transportation logisticsStrong analytical, research, and data evaluation skillsProven experience with Microsoft office suite and Oracle / JD Edwards systemsExcellent interpersonal skills; ability to provide accurate, timely, and professional communicationDemonstratable ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearlyStrong multitasking and organizational skillsMust work independently, as well as in a team environmentMust be passionate and willing to lead in collaborating with other departmentsStrong ability to train and motivate othersAbility to make sound business decisions after weighing options carefullyStrong Excel experience a must, with some Power BIEqual Opportunity Employer / disability / veteran :
