Overview
Senior BI Engineer role at Redwood Trust, Inc. This position leads design, development, and delivery of enterprise data and analytics solutions, combining hands-on technical work with strategic leadership to provide high-quality data and insights that drive growth and operational excellence.
As the Senior BI Engineer, you will set the standard for BI development, mentor team members, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver data products that support critical decisions, from daily reporting pipelines to long-term data architecture, governance, and strategy.
Base pay range
$135,000.00 / yr - $164,400.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Translate business goals into scalable, data-driven solutions that empower decision-making.
- Elevate visualization and storytelling in Power BI reporting; ensure dashboards and data products are intuitive and drive adoption.
- Champion data governance best practices including data lineage, cataloging, access controls, and quality monitoring.
- Define and enforce deployment governance standards for consistent, reliable, and auditable BI assets.
- Deliver reliable, actionable insights and ensure reporting pipelines, daily jobs, and data validation processes operate seamlessly.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design KPIs, dashboards, and analytics products addressing evolving business needs with proper data stewardship.
- Deliver visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports that enable data-driven decisions.
- Regularly demo new BI solutions to business teams and incorporate feedback into iterative improvements.
- Guide and mentor BI and data engineers in analytics, governance, and deployment best practices.
- Collaborate with technical partners to deliver integrated, end-to-end data products.
- Act as a liaison between technical and business teams to ensure solutions are technically sound and business-relevant.
- Drive backlog refinement, planning, execution, and delivery of BI projects; manage performance, scalability, governance, and security of BI platforms.
- Continuously evaluate and implement improvements to BI processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Define technical data architecture and participate in vendor / tool selection for the BI ecosystem.
- Develop and scale enterprise-wide intelligence solutions aligned with the company's growth strategy.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and recommend innovative approaches to expand BI capabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (Master's preferred).8+ years of experience in BI engineering, data analytics, and data governance.Significant end-to-end expertise in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query, governance, embedding, security, deployment pipelines, administration).Strong SQL proficiency with relational databases and cloud data warehouses (including MS SQL Server and Fabric).Experience implementing data governance practices and CI / CD pipelines for BI or data platforms.Excellent communication skills bridging technical and business perspectives.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading BI teams or mentoring junior engineers.Background in finance, real estate, or related industries.Exposure to advanced analytics, predictive modeling, or machine learning.A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $135,000-$164,400 . The actual salary offer will be based on job-related education, location, training, licensure, certification, and other factors.
