Civil Litigation Attorney

Overview

The Civil Litigation Attorney will provide in-house legal support for a private equity firm and its portfolio of companies, focusing on managing litigation matters and collection-related disputes. This role involves handling the full lifecycle of civil lawsuits, overseeing outside counsel, and advising internal stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate has strong litigation experience, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters across diverse business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the company and portfolio entities in civil litigation matters, including pre-trial, trial, and settlement phases.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and case analysis to develop litigation strategies.
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate litigation efforts across multiple jurisdictions.
• Attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials as needed.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks, dispute resolution options, and litigation exposure.
• Handle collection-related disputes, including pursuing recovery actions, negotiating payment arrangements, and defending against collection claims.
• Oversee judgment enforcement activities such as garnishments, liens, and asset recovery efforts.
• Assist with internal investigations and compliance audits.
• Support employment law matters, including policy updates and dispute resolution.
• Contribute to regulatory compliance efforts and risk management initiatives.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and provide legal guidance to internal teams.
• Develop and update internal legal policies and procedures.
