Introduction
UConn's Facilities Operations Department has one job opening for Electronic Integrated Control Systems Technician (Building Subsystems) at the Storrs Campus. The EICS Technician (BS) position is a permanent, full-time position reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor 1. Work schedule : 2nd Shift, Monday – Friday, 3 : 00 p.m. to 11 : 00 p.m. with an unpaid half hour for lunch. The hourly rate of pay is $35.06 and is non-negotiable for new state employees; current NP-2 employees' pay is based on current salary / step. The 2nd shift is eligible for shift differential.

This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services / Essential Staff. Must be willing and able to work during emergency closures, delays due to weather, or significant events that affect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends, and holidays).
This position may require participation in a Weekly On-Call Rotation Schedule; if assigned, the cell phone must be carried and calls responded to within 15 minutes.
Facilities Operations NP-2 employees may be required to perform duties at any Regional Campus.

Examples of Duties
Responsibilities include performing a full range of tasks involving electronic controls for building energy, environmental and mechanical systems; programming of Energy Management and Building monitoring systems; testing, repair, and calibration of controls, meters, and logic circuits for electronic, pneumatic, and electric equipment.
Install, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, calibrate, test, and repair control equipment for building systems (alarms, transducers, relays, circuit boards, integrated circuits, microprocessor units). Diagnose equipment such as motors, transformers, regulators, motor drives, pneumatic controls, valves, sensing devices. Program changes in computer systems controlling lighting, energy use, and environmental systems; install sensors and controllers; adjust parameters; assist with system changes and operations. Monitor and control via central software; respond to alarms; diagnose system variance and perform repairs or escalate as needed. May install / repair networked controllers, load PLCs on site, and interface with Process Information software or servers. Calibrate meters, support retro-commissioning, and assist with subsystem requirements. May perform remote diagnostics, install network gear, and develop / build a user interface for building environmental controls. Perform related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Electrical schematics, network troubleshooting, building automated digital control systems and logic; HVACR knowledge; BACnet knowledge; Boolean logic; CAD; communication skills; diagnostic ability; programming in HTML / XML; computer software proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications - General Experience
Five (5) years of experience in HVACR and integrated electronic control systems or in building automation systems involving design, installation, and service of subsystems such as fire, security, building access, or related control boxes.
