The Wilmer Eye InstituteatJohns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking an optometrist to join the WilmerEye Institute's comprehensiveeye caredivision. This individual will work independently to provide primary ocular evaluations for patients atWilmer Eye Institute's outpatient clinic location in Bethesda, MD.

• Comprehensive care providers perform vision and medical eye exams within the bounds of individual licensure andMaryland'slegal scope of practice.
• Common encounters include diabetic eye examinations; evaluation of dry eye disease, cataracts, and stable glaucoma; Plaquenil screenings; triage of urgent eye or vision concerns; and comanagement of postoperative patients.
• On-site referral / consultation forpatients requiring surgical or advancedsubspecialist careinglaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and low vision rehabilitation.
• Vision care services include prescription of glasses and soft contact lenses, with the opportunity to build a practice in specialty therapeutic contact lenses. An on-site optical is available witha team oflicensed opticians and high-quality materials.

Salary Range

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
