Position Title : Manufacturing Engineer
Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and operational performance. This role involves close collaboration with production teams and engineering departments to reduce waste, enhance productivity, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The engineer will also support product development and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Design and Optimization Develop and refine manufacturing workflows, layouts, and systems to improve throughput, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Machining Expertise Apply deep knowledge of machining processes including CNC milling, turning, grinding, and drilling. Select appropriate materials and cutting tools based on application requirements and material properties.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving Identify production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve quality or performance concerns.
- Cost Reduction Initiatives Lead efforts to reduce operational costs through improved resource utilization, process efficiency, and waste minimization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, maintenance, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless manufacturing operations and effective communication.
- Continuous Improvement Support or lead initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to drive ongoing process enhancements and operational excellence.
- Safety and Compliance Ensure all manufacturing activities adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
- Technology Integration Evaluate, introduce, and implement new technologies or equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities and performance.
- Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of process designs, improvements, and performance metrics. Prepare technical documentation including process maps and engineering reports.
- Tooling and Fixtures Design and select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining operations. Apply principles of tool holding and work holding to ensure precision and efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldExperience in a machining or manufacturing environment is highly desirableProficiency in CAD and CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), process simulation tools, and ERP systemsAbility to create and interpret technical drawings and 3D modelsFamiliarity with G-Code and embedded programming languages is a plusKnowledge of measurement tools and techniques for ensuring part accuracy and qualityUnderstanding of quality control standards and proceduresStrong foundation in manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, welding, and moldingExperience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is beneficialExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsMachine shop experience preferred
