Job Summary :
The Metadata Librarian works with librarians, faculty, and other project partners to determine appropriate methods of developing metadata for the libraries' digital collections. They also manage metadata entry, quality control, and data exports in coordination with UWDCC staff. They provide strategic thinking on metadata strategies, and initiate process improvements, policy changes, and new initiatives to contribute towards continual improvement in services and operations. They also help to ensure the accessibility of digital content of all types.

Full Time : 100%. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. This position requires the employee to be onsite as needed for duties such as supervising students or coordinating with the Project Manager and other staff. The percentage of remote and onsite work will be determined at the time of hire.

The UW Digital Collections Center (UWDCC) is a small, tightly integrated group responsible for creating, managing, and preserving over 3 million digital objects across a wide range of subject areas and content types. UWDCC is currently managing over 20 simultaneous projects that require metadata management, including determining metadata strategy for content, creating MODS records and structural metadata for textual materials, training content providers and student staff in data entry for multimedia materials, and performing quality control checks on metadata and object structure.
