Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will join the Technology Design team, based in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin office. You will work on designing and specifying structured cabling systems, audio / visual systems, security systems, and other Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are required. Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task across multiple projects are essential.
  • Ability to work virtually and communicate effectively across geographies with multiple project teams.
  • Basic understanding of :

Structured Cabling Systems (Voice / Data Cabling)

  • Audio / Visual Systems (Background Music, Overhead Paging, Conference / Ballroom / Boardroom A / V and control systems)
  • Security Systems (Surveillance, Physical Access Control, Intrusion Detection)
  • Other Communication Technologies (Nurse Call, Distributed Antenna Systems, Real-Time Location Services, etc.)
  • Attend in-house coordination meetings and discuss design requirements with engineers.
  • Understand scope of SD, DD, CD documents and produce appropriate documentation with input from engineers.
  • Proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases with input from engineers.
  • Calculate electrical loads and cooling requirements with input from engineers.
  • Read and interpret industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, FGI) and incorporate into designs.
  • Prepare floor plans showing low voltage device layouts, cable pathways, equipment, etc., with input from engineers.
  • Create system riser diagrams with input from engineers.
  • Select and schedule equipment with input from engineers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP, Architectural, Structural).
  • Apply existing EXP details relevant to projects.
  • Manage work planning and the design process within available hours.
  • Prepare revisions (ASI's, etc.) and sketches following proper numbering conventions.

    • What your experience looks like

  • Engineering Degree (BS Electrical, BS Architectural Engineering, or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited school.
  • 0-5 years of experience designing low voltage systems for buildings.
  • Ability to work virtually across office geographies with multiple teams.
