Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and present interpretive programs and special events to park visitors, civic groups, and private organizations.
- Research and record data regarding programs; organize and prepare press releases, reports, and brochures; prepare slide presentations, exhibits, and written scripts for audio-visual programs.
- Supervise park operations in the absence of other uniformed personnel; assist the Superintendent in planning and operations, including participation in emergency response situations.
- Engage in public relations, conservation and protection of plant and animal life in the park; maintain hiking trails; purchase materials; perform office duties.
- Demonstrate high comfort level with water, strong swimming skills, ability to operate watercraft, and willingness to work with live animals.
- Meet or exceed the minimum qualifications and willingness to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays; work in adverse weather. A criminal background check and driving record check are required.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications : At least two years of experience in interpretive programming, environmental education, museums, education, or a related field. Other job-related education and / or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.Knowledge of interpretive methods, heritage tourism, and environmental education principles; ability to develop and deliver age-appropriate programs; strong verbal and written communication skills.Experience with diverse audiences, including children, families, and school groups; strong research, organization, and presentation skills; ability to collaborate with educators and community organizations.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, photography and audio-visual equipment, and writing of publications preferred.Licensure / Certifications : N / A (as applicable); other certifications as required by role.Additional Information
