Assistant Human Resources Manager
The Prince George's County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Manager to join our planning team. This position functions as a non-supervisory team leader and alter ego to the Department Human Resources Manager, supporting the strategic and operational delivery of human resources services across the Planning Department. The Department has approximately 235 employees.
As a key contributor to the Department's human resources work program, this position provides strategic and tactical support to the Department Human Resources Manager and collaborates with senior and executive management teams on a wide range of HR matters. The Assistant HR Manager offers guidance and consultation on complex or sensitive personnel issues, supports the allocation of workforce resources, analyzes various facets of the work program, and assists in the development and execution of HR strategies and plans. The position plays an integral role in advancing a comprehensive employee development and training program, while promoting innovation, automation, and compliance across HR operations. Though non-supervisory, the role functions as a team lead and is expected to demonstrate critical thinking, initiative, and a high level of professionalism in all aspects of HR service delivery.
The Prince George's County Planning Department provides land use planning for the physical development of Prince George's County, Maryland. As the second most populous county in Maryland, Prince George's has a population of approximately 900,000 residents with 15 Metro Rail Stations and is home to the University of Maryland at College Park, National Harbor, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and a world-class parks and recreation system. Working Conditions : Works in an office setting; may work outdoors briefly on an incidental basis. Work is primarily sedentary and requires very light to light physical effort. May be subject to various job demands such as high volume of work and tight deadlines.
