Overview
We seek a highly motivated hands-on Mechanical Engineer for a position in the Manufacturing Test Engineering group as part of the machine that builds the machine. The group is focused on creating robust, beautiful, data-centric production testing equipment for Tesla's power electronic components in vehicle, stationary storage, humanoid robot and charging products. The role is the Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Semi at Tesla
What You'll Do
- Architect automated test equipment, produce detailed-level CAD models, pneumatic diagrams, and verify designs using structural and thermal FEA and CFD
- Conceptual equipment development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Identify opportunities and implement performance, robustness, ease of assembly improvements
- Analyze system constraints and propose innovative solutions
- Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts, and fine-tune equipment for release to production
- Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery to ensure robustness and quality
- Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT / FAT) of test equipment
