UT GEAR UP Mindset College Ready Site Coordinator (Aldine / Houston)
This position is for a UT GEAR UP Mindset College Ready Site Coordinator to help GEAR UP cohort students realize their dream of applying for and attending college. The coordinator will work alongside middle and high school staff to assist students with academic and college knowledge counseling, mentoring, college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, child development, education, public administration, or a related field. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. A Master's degree is preferred, with in-depth knowledge of secondary education requirements in Texas and postsecondary education options.
The coordinator will be responsible for providing academic enrichment, informational, and motivational opportunities and interventions for GEAR UP cohort students. This includes monitoring student grades, attendance, and transcripts, assessing academic and personal needs, and collaborating with school site teams to develop and implement service plans.
The coordinator will also organize group events such as student assemblies and pep rallies, family night events, and other student and parent support activities to encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities.
In addition, the coordinator will provide one-on-one admissions and financial-aid advice to GEAR UP cohort students and their families, help students complete and submit admissions and financial aid applications, and assist students in interpreting correspondence from colleges.
The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work effectively with others, and a commitment to service. The coordinator will be located regionally in Houston, TX, and will provide direct support to students, families, and educators in an Aldine ISD middle school.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 + depending on qualifications. The position is a full-time, fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal and extension depending on funding and performance.
