We are a mix of voluntary and paid staff, and we may convert to compensation over time as we grow. Age does not matter; we welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assign stories to staff and freelancers
• Assess story pitches
• Generate story ideas
• Edit stories
• Uphold editorial guidelines to ensure a consistent voice, tone, perspective, and copy standards
• Write compelling original pieces when appropriate

Expectations

You will be expected to attend your department’s recurring meetings. Beyond this, you will work on your own schedule. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months for at least 15 hours per week. Because our team is distributed globally, we rely on Slack, email, and conference calls, and expect timely responsiveness.
